I am trying to get more traffic to my site and have been reading that I need to get more links.  Any suggestion how I can do this?

There are lots of ways to do it, but most of them don't help you.  By far the fastest and most effective way to build links is to use google-owned platforms.  Get a gmail account and setup five free blogs there with different related titles and make posts every day to each blog.  Google owned blog links are picked up 100% and very quickly.  But they only like to see two links to two different pages on each posting.  Also, buy the .info url of your main domain.  .info domains are considered authority sites by Google and given weight for the links you have there.  On your .info, you should have blogs, forums, and as many information pages as possible, including news pages, with again two links per page or post.  ALL these links will show up.  Perhaps one percent of directory submissions will show up as links on google.  Outside of those two solutions, forum postings get the best results on Google, despite their hype about social networking.  I have made tens of thousands of links in web 2.0, social networking, and directories and the results on google are slim.  But the techniques I describe have 100% success.

On every street corner it is very possible that you can find a Search Engine Optimization Expert. Ask 5 of them the same question and you are going to get 5 different answers, so I guess it all depends on who you want to listen to.

Our suggestion is rather simple:

• Good, relative, original content (see How to Write Articles that Get to the Top of Google)
• Descriptive, short titles
• Stay away from Auto-Submit Programs - (see this: Beware of Auto-Submitting Programs for Backlinks)
• Use social networking sites to "spread the word", but try to refrain from "in your face marketing". That is a great way to loose a list of great followers.
• Learn the basics of html so you can use "nofollow" and "title" tags correctly on your hyperlinks.
• Avoid duplicate content.

Of course there is plenty more, but in our experience, simply posting an article with a good title and then backlinking correctly to your website will work.

Try article sites like PRLog.org, ArticlesBase.com and URL.biz for starters. These sites will also allow you to create a good profile with backlinks as well.

The other great advantage to writing articles on these sites is they have pretty good page ranks, so any backlink to your site is valued a lot more by the search engines.
